What really lights me up, though, is working with young people. There’s something incredibly exciting about talking to youth about their futures. The ideas, the possibilities, the “what ifs.” Being part of those conversations and helping turn big dreams into real plans is what makes this work so rewarding.

Hi My name is Jamie, or Jae if we’re friends lol :) In 2017 I took my first flight out of my home country to become an Au pair in USA. When you grow up in a township, traveling seems like one of those far fetched dreams or even something you only imagine. I had a life changing experience to say the least, I made some of the most cherished memories, beautiful connections that I still have today and gained independence as a young person fresh out of matric. Everything I’ve gained through my traveling experience is priceless which is why I saw the opportunity to join the OVC team as a win!
Once I returned home and attained my Humanities degree I knew I wanted to work with young people, especially in ways that empowered them and encouraged personal development & skills.
Being part of an agency that values creating opportunities for others is what drew me to this space, and it continues to motivate me to produce work that is both meaningful and impactful. To this day, I’d still rather get lost in a city I’ve never been to than know every corner of my comfort zone- there is so much to see & learn outside of our what we know so why not book your next trip ? Learn something new about the world, about others & even yourself.

My journey with OVC started when I applied for the Au pair Netherlands program in 2011 and lived with a wonderful family in Delft, Zuid-Holland for 1 year. During this time I travelled to Belgium, Italy, France, and Germany and extensively within the Netherlands itself. I came back to South Africa in September 2012 and realized that my passion is to help other young travel-minded people to take the first step and discover what the world has to offer.
I joined OVC Pretoria in 2014 and every day brings joy seeing other travellers who are making their dreams a reality. I have also had the opportunity to travel to the USA joining the au pair Academy in New York and see what our students are up to working at Gaylord Texas in Grapevine, Texas. I also went to Chiang Mai, Thailand to experience how our clients become TEFL qualified teachers.
I am passionate about what I do and have won several awards within OVC, from Top-Performing Consultant in OVC, Hospitality Internship, Au Pair USA and Netherlands, Teach Abroad to Student Work.

My journey with the OVC has taken me from one adventure to the next! Fresh home from my gap years in the United States, I began consulting in the early days of 2004. I watched the OVC grow from strength to strength, and we are proud to say we are the leaders in SA youth travel! I’m currently the franchise owner of OVC East Rand, Johannesburg. Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, Namibia and Pretoria. We have fantastic crew members countrywide, eager to help young travellers reach their dreams of exploring the world!
My passion, travels and knowledge of the United States culture have put me in the role of managing OVC American programs: Au Pair USA, USA Hospitality Internships and Camp America. I personally handle each and every applicant that enter into these programs, ensuring that all our young travellers are well taken care of when on their American adventure!
My gap year afforded me the opportunity to live in the United States for 2 years as an au pair and to travel extensively throughout the USA. My travels have taken me to the UK and Ireland, Africa, Middle East and one of my favourite areas, the Far East! Travelling allows you to experience new cultures, new people, new adventures and make lifetime memories. To all those inspired to travel, to find new adventures and to discover themselves, I encourage you to take the steps I have. You will never regret your decision to venture out of South Africa!
